UCOMM are delighted to announce that we have recently been successful in securing funding for "The Great Tackle". The organisation will use the funding to run a series of activities associated with football, keep fit, healthy eating, and health awareness aimed at BME men.
The grant awarded will be spent on funding venue hire, pitch hire, sports equipment, a health awareness seasonal facilitator, a project co-ordinator, and other associated costs.
Engineers For Overseas Development hosted a fundraising ball to raise money for projects in impoverished rural areas of Uganda. Their target is to raise £50,000 for the charity organisation that is heading this project in Uganda.
Tickets for the Event were priced at £45 (included 3 course dinner). There was a raffle and an auction. Along with a keynote speech from a very senior member of the Engineering Institute.
The Dress Code on the night was Black Tie for the gentlemen, and Cocktails Dresses or Ball Gowns for the Ladies. The event was held at the Hilton Hotel on Saturday 20th August 2016, and started at 6:30pm.
UCOMM dancers opened the evening celebrations with two traditional Ugandan dances. The dances were performed by our talented young children from the community.
